Mountain Biking
Hood River, OR and its surrounding area is home to some of the most varied and spectacular natural terrain for mountain biking in North America. Although known worldwide for its windsurfing conditions, this area is quickly becoming a top mountain bike destination and home of the Gorge Games mountain biking events. This year’s events will be held on July 18th and 19th.

Super D
The Super D race will be held in the Post Canyon area of Hood River, OR, which encompasses over 3,000 feet of vertical descent. Solid bike handling skills are a must for there will be rocky sections and steep terrain. Super D consists of riders racing one at a time against the clock. The rider with the fastest time wins or advances to the next round. Racers will start at regular, predetermined start times and compete against others in their class and category. There are a few sections of climbing so use the appropriate bike. Downhill, enduro, and cross-country style bikes with 5” – 7” travel are recommended. Categories will consist of OBRA sanctioned junior male/female, sport male/female, expert male/female, pro male/female, and masters male/female. Practice runs are available for all competitors leading up to the race (please see map on our website for directions). Riders are responsible for shuttling or getting to the top prior to race day. We will provide free transportation to the starting line on race day, as well as back to the athlete parking area.

The course is 100% rideable regardless of terrain and weather conditions. It is a multiple lap race with lap times not less than 5 minutes for the fastest riders. Race duration is usually 30 minutes depending on abilities and categories. Cross country mountain bikes are recommended for this event, as there will be sections with single-track and small climbs. Categories will consist of OBRA sanctioned junior male/female, sport male/female, expert male/female, pro male/female, and masters male/female. Practice runs are available for all competitors leading up to the race (please see map on our website for directions).
